CO2 reduction / climate change

SIM Materials Forum 2023

On May 24, from 13:00 to 18:00, SIM is organising its SIM Materials Forum: discover material innovations and meet up with the materials community!

Project idea: ECO2Chape

New project idea: ECO2Chape

New project idea “ECO2Chape” focuses on the development of an economically feasible, ecological, and circular screed by subjecting the concept of the classic sand-cement screed to the possibilities available today in light of the circular transition.

DUSC inspiration and demonstration event

During this event, you will be introduced to the results of the DUSC project ‘Durability of MFS-slag Concrete’. You will learn how circular concrete with reprocessed copper slag is conceived and which mechanical and durability properties are achieved.

SIMBA project

Discover our new SIM program “SIMBA”

SIM has set up a new program on sustainability for batteries. As climate change is no longer a far-off phenomenon, we need to act now. That is exactly what the SIM SIMBA Program intends to do: increase the impact in terms of energy transition and climate goals.

SIMBA: all solid state Li-batteries

Sustainable and Innovative Materials for Batteries: the ambition is to bundle knowhow and effort to create a local battery ecosystem, which enables value creation and jobs in Flanders by the time generation 4 batteries (all solid-state, ASSB) break through.

MARES: recycling of industrial residues

Recycling of ‘Materials from solid and liquid industrial process Residues’. The aim is at creating and demonstrating an operational, flexible toolbox to recover metals and valorize residual matrix into building materials.
