SHEcon stands for Self-HEaling CONcrete for structural and architectural applications

The SHEcon project objective was to develop a concrete for structural and architectural wall panels, which does not develop cracks by the relevant mechanical loads and thermal effects. If cracks do develop, the concrete should react in such a way that the durability of the panels and related components is not impaired.

Results to be achieved were:

  • Design of PU for the purpose of self-healing of concrete
  • Design of carriers for the PU
  • Obtaining a self-healing concrete with the ability to regain impermeability and stiffness
  • Proof-of-principle in a concrete pre-casting plant for concrete sandwich panels used as architectural cladding.

The SHEcon project depended partly on the outcome of the SBO SECEMIN.

This project is part of:

Self-healing engineering materials: cementitious, polymeric and coating materials with the ability to heal damage autonomously.
