Geopolymers and Hybrid Cements for Roads and Tunnels

GHRANTE targets the development of innovative, recyclable inorganic polymer-based materials based on slags from the non-ferrous metallurgy.

GHRANTE will develop:

(1) a full portfolio of properties and durability data for inorganic polymer-based materials, including proposals for performance-based assessment protocols, originating from a Ca-poor Fe-silicate slag (typical from the copper industry) and a Ca-rich Fe-silicate slag (typical from the lead industry) that will be used in

(2) value-added tyre/noise and rolling resistance reducing, with high skid resistance and durability and/or fire-resistant prototypes, made of hybrid cements and geopolymer for road, tunnel and building applications, employing cutting-edge/emerging technologies, such as additive manufacturing.

This project is part of:

The MaRes Program is about recycling of ‘Materials from solid and liquid industrial process Residues’, and aims at creating and demonstrating an operational, flexible toolbox to recover metals and valorize residual matrix into building materials.
