The annual SIM event on materials innovation is back! After some postponement due to the ongoing corona situation – this year’s edition of the SIM User Forum will take place on 11 May. Only this year with a brand-new name. For its eighth edition, SIM rebranded the event as SIM Materials Forum. On the one hand ‘materials’ obviously refers to the content of the event, but with ‘forum’ the name also alludes to the ancient Forum Romanum, on the other. A central place in ancient Rome where chance and interesting encounters were common practice. These are the kind of rewarding meet-ups that are facilitated at SIM Materials Forum as well.

The event may get a new name, but it will still offer its familiar content program. SIM Materials Forum remains the place to be to discover material innovations. The event gathers, for instance, 17 experts who will come to share their vision and latest innovations within four thematic areas. This year, the program will focus on the topics Climate, Clean Energy & Mobility, Innovative Applications, Circular Materials and Modelling & Digitalisation. For each track of lectures, visitors can choose between no less than four speakers. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to discover material innovations at the materials market and to discuss science & engineering during the poster session. Moreover, for attendees the event is the ideal occasion to get to know the materials community in Flanders and beyond during the ample networking opportunities.

SIM Materials Forum takes place during Advanced Engineering, a trade fair on the creation and production of innovative products. This combination makes the SIM Materials Forum an even more interesting platform for companies that contribute towards the production of innovative products, technologies and electronics. The event is organised by Strategic Initiative Materials ‘SIM’; a virtual research centre founded in 2009 by the Flemish materials industry and the Flemish universities. SIM’s mission is to further strengthen Flanders’ strong position in materials innovation. With the SIM Materials Forum, the organisation wants to keep you informed of their work and the latest developments in the materials sector.
